Who is a Saint and can a Man declare someone to be one?
Romans 15:25 “But now I go unto Jerusalem to minister unto the saints.” Did the Apostle Paul say anything about a dead person or say he was going to declare these people saints in Jerusalem? Did he go there to minister to people who did miracles or who were considered special? No he did not! A person becomes a saint when they hear the Gospel and become Born Again!

Catholics also forgot to look at 1st Corinthians 1:2 “Unto the church of God which is at Corinth, to them that are sanctified in Christ Jesus, called to be saints, with all that in every place call upon the name of Jesus Christ our Lord, both theirs and ours:”
They also have NOT read 1st Corinthians 6:2-4 “Do ye not know that the saints shall judge the world? and if the world shall be judged by you, are ye unworthy to judge the smallest matters? 3 Know ye not that we shall judge angels? how much more things that pertain to this life? 4 If then ye have judgments of things pertaining to this life, set them to judge who are least esteemed in the church.”
Note that Paul is speaking to LIVING PEOPLE calling them “SAINTS” talking to them in the PRESENT TENSE! He is NOT referring to dead people!
Independent Baptist Tom Weaver has written a detailed analysis of the catechism, Inside the Catholic Catechism. Weaver lists major heretical catechisms, and presents Scripture quotations to refute them. Catholic teaching hinges on four pillars: (1) Church tradition, (2) Church hierarchy, (3) veneration (worship) of images, and (4) salvation by works. Catholics hold tradition to be equal with Scripture, but actually their tradition often overrides scripture. Catholics venerate pictures, crosses, rosaries, and other “aides” to worship, whereas True Christians worship the Creator alone. Acts, or religious activities, are held by Catholics to gain “merit,” which earns them salvation through the Church. True Christians know that salvation comes only through the Son of God, not through any meritorious works of our own. Source.
I have no doubt there are very good Catholics who love God and try and do what is right. Being a good Catholic, or a good Baptist, a good Methodist, ETC, will NOT make you Righteous in God’s eyes or make you a saint!
Romans 10:1-4 “Brethren, my heart’s desire and prayer to God for Israel is, that they might be saved.2 For I bear them record that they have a zeal of God, but not according to knowledge.3 For they being ignorant of God’s righteousness, and going about to establish their own righteousness, have not submitted themselves unto the righteousness of God 4 For Christ is the end of the law for righteousness to every one that believeth.”
According to the Catholic church, a Saint must be able to heal from the Grave!
In the Roman Catholic religion, in order for a person to be sainted, they must be credited with bringing about two miracles after their death through their intercession, with the exception of just one miracle for those who are martyred for their faith.
The first miracle the Vatican attributed to Bojaxhiu (her family name) was the healing of a cancerous tumor suffered by an Indian woman in 2003.
“[W]hen I prayed to Mother Teresa from my heart, Mother Teresa blessed me and now I am healthy,” Monica Besra told CNN last week.
The second involved a Brazilian man who contracted a viral infection in 2008 and slipped into a coma after developing brain abscesses.
“The patient’s wife continuously sought the intercession of the Blessed Mother Teresa for her husband,” explained Brian Kolodiejchiuk, who had called for Bojaxhiu’s canonization, in a statement last December. Source Christian News Net.
When you want to get proof of error, get it from the horses mouth.
It is not Protestants who says scripture is all we need, it is God himself!
The doctrine of the sufficiency of Scripture is a fundamental tenet of the Christian faith. To say the Scriptures are sufficient means that the Bible is all we need to equip us for a life of faith and service. It provides a clear demonstration of God’s intention to restore the broken relationship between Himself and humanity through His Son, Jesus Christ, our Savior through the gift of faith. No other writings are necessary for this good news to be understood, nor are any other writings required to equip us for a life of faith.
When discussing Scripture, Christians are referring to both Old and New Testaments. The apostle Paul declared that the holy Scriptures “are able to make you wise for salvation through faith in Christ Jesus. All Scripture is God-breathed and is useful for teaching, rebuking, correcting and training in righteousness, so that the man of God may be thoroughly equipped for every good work” (2nd Timothy 3:15–17). If Scripture is “God-breathed,” then it is not man-breathed, and, although it was penned by men, those “men spoke from God as they were carried along by the Holy Spirit” (2nd Peter 1:21). No man-made writing is sufficient to equip us for every good work; only the Word of God can do that. Furthermore, if the Scriptures are sufficient to thoroughly equip us, then nothing more is needed.
Colossians 2 deals with the dangers a church faces when the sufficiency of Scripture is challenged and merged with non-biblical writings, full of ungodly theology and concepts. Paul warned the church at Colossi: “See to it that no one takes you captive through hollow and deceptive philosophy, which depends on human tradition and the basic principles of this world rather than on Christ” (Colossians 2:8). Jude says it even more specifically when he writes, “Although I was very eager to write to you about the salvation we share, I felt I had to write and urge you to contend for the faith that was once for all entrusted to the saints” (Jude 1:3). Notice the phrase “once and for all.” This makes it clear that no other writings, no matter how godly the pastor, theologian, or denominational church they may come from, are to be seen as equal to or completing the Word of God. The Bible is all that is necessary for the believer to understand the character of God, the nature of man, and the doctrines of sin, heaven, hell, and salvation through Jesus Christ. Paul’s words to the Galatians indicate the seriousness of delivering a message outside the Bible:“If we or an angel from heaven should preach a gospel other than the one we preached to you, let him be eternally condemned!” (Galatians 1:8).
Perhaps the strongest verses on the issue of the sufficiency of the Bible come from the book of Psalms. In Psalm 19:7–14, David rejoices in God’s Word, declaring it to be perfect, trustworthy, right, radiant, enlightening, sure and altogether righteous. Source Got Questions.
What do Catholics really believe? Again, out of the horse’s mouth!
Catholics, on the other hand, recognize that the Bible does not endorse this view and that, in fact, it is repudiated in Scripture. The true “rule of faith”—as expressed in the Bible itself—is Scripture plus apostolic tradition, as manifested (yea Demons Manifesting!) in the living teaching authority of the Catholic Church, to which were entrusted the oral teachings of Jesus and the apostles, along with the authority to interpret Scripture correctly.
In the Second Vatican Council’s document on divine revelation, Dei Verbum (Latin: “The Word of God”), the relationship between Tradition and Scripture is explained: “Hence there exists a close connection and communication between sacred Tradition and sacred Scripture. For both of them, flowing from the same divine wellspring, in a certain way merge into a unity and tend toward the same end. For sacred Scripture is the word of God inasmuch as it is consigned to writing under the inspiration of the divine Spirit. To the successors of the apostles, sacred Tradition hands on in its full purity God’s word, which was entrusted to the apostles by Christ the Lord and the Holy Spirit. Source Catholic.com.
So in their OWN words, the Bible is not good enough and we need a group of perverted priests to interpret what God is saying. They also believe God is still revealing scripture and hidden things not revealed to man!
Definition of Saint
According to Wikipedia: A saint, also historically known as a hallow, is a person who is recognized as having an exceptional degree of holiness or likeness to God. In Christianity, the words saint and hallow have a wide variety of meanings, depending on the context and denomination. The original Christian denotation was any believer who is “in Christ” and in whom Christ dwells, whether in Heaven or on Earth. In Anglican, Roman Catholic, Eastern Orthodox, Lutheran, and Oriental Orthodox doctrine, all of their faithful deceased in Heaven are considered to be saints, but some are considered worthy of greater honour or emulation; official ecclesiastical recognition, and consequently veneration, is given to some saints through the process of canonization in the Catholic Church or glorification in the Eastern Orthodox Church.
While the English word saint originated in Christianity, historians of religion now use the appellation “in a more general way to refer to the state of special holiness that many religions attribute to certain people”, with the Jewish tzadik, the Islamic walī, the Hindu rishi or Sikh guru, and the Buddhist arhat orbodhisattva also being referred to as saints. Depending on the religion, saints are recognized either by official ecclesiastical declaration or by popular acclamation (see Folk saint).”
Oh surely, with the world speeding toward a ONE WORLD RELIGION, they would naturally incorporate the terminology and practices of all the pagan religions with those of supposed true believers. So the pagan shaman or the guru or the wali is the same thing as a SAINT OF GOD!! Even the “MOST VENERATED” saint.
Under their “Characteristics section Wikipedia further defines the word saint.
“The English word “saint” comes from the Latin “sanctus“, in origin a word in indigenous tradition connected to the Roman god Sancus.[citation needed] The word translated the Greek “ἅγιος” (hagios), which derives from the verb ἁγιάζω (hagiazo), which means “to set apart”, “to sanctify”, or “to make holy”. “
Wikipedia also clearly states that “In the New Testament, “saint” did not denote the deceased who had been recognized as especially holy or emulable, but rather the living faithful who had dedicated themselves to God.”
What does the word “Holy” co-notate?
adjective, holier, holiest.1. specially recognized as or declared sacred by religious use or authority;consecrated: holy ground.
2. dedicated or devoted to the service of God, the church, or religion:a holy man.
3. saintly; godly; pious; devout:a holy life.
4. having a spiritually pure quality: a holy love.
5. entitled to worship or veneration as or as if sacred:a holy relic.
6. religious:holy rites.
7. inspiring fear, awe, or grave distress: The director, when angry, is a holy terror. noun, plural holies.
8. a place of worship; sacred place; sanctuary.
Sounds to me an awful lot like the ancient pagan practice of making their favorite dead people into GODS. And be not deceived beloved, like manner, the Catholics make statues of those the declare to be holy and sanctified to which they bow, fall prostrate and pray, in the name of their favorite SAINT. Get out of here!! Can anyone not see that this is totally PAGAN??
Where on earth did the Catholic Church get the idea that they could determine that ANYONE has the capacity of interceding on behalf of individuals who “PRAY IN THEIR NAME”??
THE WORD OF GOD tells us the ONLY NAME in which we should pray is that of the FATHER and HIS SON. Because actually their names are one in the same. The name of HIS SON is simply GOD the Fathers name with an added “SAVES” on the end.John 15:16 “whatever you ask in my name the Father will give you.”
Wikipedia on the term Beatification:
Beatification (from Latin beatus, “blessed” and facere, “to make”) is a recognition accorded by the Catholic Church of a dead person’s entrance into Heaven and capacity to intercede on behalf of individuals who pray in his or her name
So, the Catholic Church not only determines who is a better Saint and who can intercede for those who pray to them, but they also determine who is allowed entrance into HEAVEN?? Beatification is the term used for the recognition of the “SAINT” but Canonization is the act by which it is conferred.
Who is a Saint according to Scripture?
Are we to believe that there are different levels of holiness? Is one person’s holiness more complete than another? No, I think not! I think that is the work of the flesh, because it is the nature of fallen man to want to feel superior to others. If we walk in the RIGHTEOUSNESS of God and not our own, can His Righteousness be somehow insufficient? NOT!! This practice of venerating the dead is not new. It goes way back to the first PAGAN Religions. The Roman Catholic Church reintroduced it to the Christians, because ROMANS ARE PAGANS!
Christians are both sinners and saints. All human beings are sinners because we are born in sin. But not all humans are saints. According to the Bible, a saint is not someone who has done wonderful things, nor is it someone who has been deemed a saint by a church or organization. The word translated “saint” in the New Testament, hagios, literally means “sacred, physically pure; morally blameless or religious; ceremonially consecrated; holy.” In the context of New Testament passages, saints are those who belong to the body of Christ, saved by grace through faith (Ephesians 2:8–9). In other words, saint is another word for a Christian, a true believer in the Lord Jesus Christ.
It is a clear biblical truth that all are born in sin and all have a sin nature. Scripture says that God created humankind originally good and without a sin nature: “Then God said, ‘Let Us make man in Our image, according to Our likeness.’ . . . God created man in His own image, in the image of God He created him; male and female He created them” (Genesis 1:26–27). However, Genesis 3 records the fall of Adam and Eve, and with that fall sin entered into the two previously sinless creatures. And when they had children, their sin nature was passed along to their offspring. Thus, every human being is a sinner.
Saints, on the other hand, are not born saints; they become saints by being reborn. Because we have all “sinned and fallen short of the glory of God” (Romans 3:23), we are all in need of spiritual rebirth, without which we will continue in our sinful state throughout eternity. But God, in His great mercy and grace, has provided the (only) means for turning a sinner into a saint—the Lord Jesus Christ, who came “to give His life as a ransom for many.” When we confess our need for a Savior from sin and accept His sacrifice on the cross on our behalf, we become saints.
There is no hierarchy of saints. All who belong to Christ by faith are saints, and none of us are more “saintly” than our Christian brothers and sisters. The apostle Paul, who is no more of a saint than the most obscure Christian, begins his first letter to the Corinthian church by declaring that they were “sanctified in Christ Jesus and called to be saints, together with all those who in every place call upon the name of our Lord Jesus Christ” (1 Corinthians 1:2, emphasis added). In this verse, hagios is translated “saints,” “holy,” and “sanctified” in different Bible versions, leading to the unmistakable conclusion that all who have ever called upon Christ for salvation are saints, made holy by the Lord. We are all “fellow citizens with the saints and members of the household of God” (Ephesians 2:19). Source Got Questions.
According to Wikipedia: Canonization is the act by which the Orthodox, Oriental Orthodoxy, Roman Catholic, or Anglican Church declares that a person who has died was a saint, upon which declaration the person is included in the canon, or list, of recognized saints. Originally, people were recognized as saints without any formal process. Later, different processes, such as those used today in the Orthodox and Roman Catholic Churches, were developed.
And you see that once again, Wikipedia makes it very clear that originally no one needed to be declared a “SAINT” all believers were assumed to be SAINTS and were selected by GOD ALONE!
The ancients practiced this conference in exactly the same way as the CATHOLIC CHURCH. It was called Apotheosis. Here is what Wikipedia has to say about it:
Apotheosis (from Greek ἀποθέωσις from ἀποθεοῦν, apotheoun “to deify”; in Latin deificatio “making divine”; also called divinization and deification) is the glorification of a subject to divine level. The term has meanings in theology, where it refers to a belief, and in art, where it refers to a genre.
In theology, apotheosis refers to the idea that an individual has been raised to godlike stature. In art, the term refers to the treatment of any subject (a figure, group, locale, motif, convention or melody) in a particularly grand or exalted manner.
We are not saints because we have been declared to be saints by a church, nor can we work our way to sainthood. Once we are saved by faith, however, we are called to certain actions befitting our calling as saints of God. Saints are not sinless, but the lives of saints do reflect the reality of the presence of Christ in our hearts, in whom we “live and move and have our being” (Acts 17:28). Source Got Questions.
The true “saints” of God are all who are called of God and are his children through faith and baptism.John 15:16 “You did not choose me, but I chose you and appointed you so that you might go and bear fruit—fruit that will last”
WE walk in holiness, because WE are formed in HIS image, by the power of the Holy Spirit.John 16:13. “Howbeit when he, the Spirit of truth, is come, he will guide you into all truth: for he shall not speak of himself; but whatsoever he shall hear, that shall he speak: and he will shew you things to come.”
WE are all called to Holiness for He commanded us to be Holy and He is HOLY!1st Peter 1:15-16 “But just as he who called you is holy, so be holy in … 16 “for it is written: “Be holy, because I am holy.”
Leviticus 11:44 “I am the LORD your God; consecrate yourselves and be holy, because I am holy.” Leviticus 19:2 “Speak to the entire assembly of Israel and say to them:’Be holy because I, the LORD your God, am holy.” Leviticus 20:26 “You are to be holy to me because I, the LORD, am holy, and I have set you apart from the nations to be my own.”
God made it abundantly clear that we are not to put anyone or anything on the same level as Him. That is, we are not to declare them righteous, sanctified, HOLY, or Worthy of WORSHIP, or able to intercede on behalf of those who pray to them. We are not to create idols and bow down to them.
Are Catholics True Believers in Jesus Christ?
Some may be. But the sad truth is most are as lost as a Muslim, Buddhist or Hindu! The Pope himself has said that “having a Personal Relationship with Jesus is Dangerous and Harmful”. Most Catholics know Jesus in name only. Head knowledge will not get you into heaven. You must search the scriptures for yourself and stop listening to Luciferians, Child Molesters and drunks.
Catholics, as well as others, here is how to become Born Again. Click Here.
